Rhuthun 8 Llandudno 9

In a tight match between Rhuthun and Llandudno on a glorious afternoon at Cae Ddol the Blues were unlucky not to come away with a win.  After a good start Rhuthun went ahead with well worked try from wing Josh Wilson after 5 minutes and then 5 minutes later full back Dyfan Humphreys grabbed three more points with a penalty goal.  Play was moving from end to end with defences in the ascendancy and neither side able to get across the try line.  After 25 minutes Llanduno’s Nick Dundee kicked a penalty goal.  The Blues spent the rest of the half in the visitors’ territory in an attempt to widen the gap.  However there was no further score and at half time Rhuthun were ahead 8-3.  Rhuthun started the 2nd half as they finished the first but again were prevented from scoring and after 15 minutes or so the visitors began putting pressure on the Blues defence.  Llandudno were being awarded a lot of penalties against Rhuthun and they took advantage of this in the 60th and 65th minute when Oscar Lennon kicked two penalty goals putting the visitors’ ahead 9-8.  In what was becoming a ragged game interrupted by infringements there was no further score and after Llandudno were awarded another penalty they kicked into touch and the whistle blew for full time.  The Blues had to be content with a bonus point in what had been an exciting and edgy game.
