Keith Lyons

It is with great sadness that we have learnt of the death of Keith Lyons in Australia.  Keith played for Rhuthun and North Wales in the 1970s. We send our condolences to his family and friends.

Gyda thristwch mawr yr ydym wedi dysgu am farwolaeth Keith Lyons yn Awstralia. Chwaraeodd Keith i Rhuthun a Gogledd Cymru yn y 1970au. Anfonwn ein cydymdeimlad at ei deulu a’i ffrindiau.

Keith played regularly for North Wales in the 70s and was in the team which played against Romania in 1979, scoring North Wales' only try.

Keith played for Ruthin and Rosslyn Park and was a fast and elusive winger. He was a performance analyst for the WRU in the early days of analysis and also did work with the 1997 Lions tour to South Africa.

He was an academic and studied sports science and other related subjects. He worked with sports as diverse as football, lacrosse and canoeing. Keith moved to Australia to the Institute of Sport and later to Canberra University, writing many papers on his subjects and was very highly thought of in many sporting circles.

His funeral is being streamed on 20th May at 7.00 AM
