The battle for Moel Famau took place at Mold's Chester Road ground with Ruthin yet again taking the spoils, winning the game 12 - 29.

The derby was billed as the high flying Ruthin side taking on the wounded Mold, so head coach Pedr Jones decided to recall some Ruthin 2nds heavyweights,  Deian Williams and captain Joe Mault to sure up the pack and improve the teams stats.

The game started scrappy with a number of loose passes and both sides not taking advantage of mistakes. After yet another scrum, the Ruthin side decided to keep things simple and hands down the line allowed another comeback kid, Kyle Davies to score in the corner.  Unfortunately Deian Williams was unable to convert.

Having made the first score, Ruthin then played some good rugby but it was Mold who scored the next try. After some uncharacteristicly poor defence by Ruthin,  the Mold backs strolled in to score underneath the Ruthin posts and then followed up with the conversion. 

With Mold now in the lead, their confidence was high and started to throw wild passes - with one of these passes going astray it was left to Huw Parry to kick through and a chase to the line. Huw Parry was clear to score however a Mold winger decided to tackle him without the ball and clearly stopped a certain try. The referee had no option but to award a penalty try with a subsequent yellow card for the Mold player.

Before the break,  Ruthin managed one last score and true to form it came from a rolling maul deep within the opposition half. With such a dominant set piece in  almost every game this season, it was no wonder that Ruthin forwards opted for the drive 5 metres out from the tryline. In a very well organised maul, captain Joe Mault scored the team effort try. Deian William's failed again with the conversion attempt which will affect his stats for the season

After half time, Mold came back strongly after probably a telling off from their coaching staff while Ruthin enjoyed some words of wisdom from coaches Pedr Jones and Sam Higgitt. With this in mind, Mold took the next score with a try through their forwards. This annoyed Ruthin who rallied to make sure this was not a comeback from Mold. 

After good field position provided by a Deian William's box kick, Dewi Penrhyn Jones threw an outrageous dummy which fooled no-one and barged his way to the try line - some felt on the field that it was knocked on but the referee was adamant a try was scored.

Ruthin then went down to 14 players due to a high tackle from Alyn Addis on Mold player.

The last and final score of the day was Huw Parry who finally got his score after earlier in the game being denied. From the sidelines it looked as though after a sweeping backs move Parry had beaten a number of players to make his way to the line although this was probably an illusion as light was fading at this late stage in the game.
