Llangefni 2nds 18 Rhuthun 2nds 24

On a superb day on the isle of Anglesey, Ruthin 2nds defeated Llangefni in a tough close encounter 18 - 24.

Llangefni were clearly in a confident mood prior to kick off and named a good side including a number of young players who failed to make the trip to Cae Ddol in the last encounter between the two sides. With their confidence high, Llangefni started very dominant and with strong running from their backline, they spent a decent amount of time in the Ruthin half. It was however the forwards who took advantage of the dominance as the Llangefni number 8 picked up from a scrum 10 metres out and bulldozed his way to the tryline.

Ruthin after the restart were relentless in their defence and soon forced a turnover deep within the Llangefni half. With Ruthin being at their most dangerous attacking off turnovers, fly half Steff Parry whirled a huge pass out to his brother Huw, who then outpaced the scrambling defence to score in the corner. Deian William's again improved his stats by kicking a difficult conversion.

Llangefni kept in touch by kicking a penalty but it was again the Ruthin forwards who every week continue to dominate the set piece to set up the next score from Joe Mault  - the forwards drove a driving maul from 10 metres out for the well organised score.

Again attacking from turnovers, Ynyr Robert's scored a well worked try with the backline using simple hands down the line to give space to the in-form winger to finish in the corner. The simple rugby was a pleasing sight to the travelling supporters who broke out into spontaneous cheering.
