Rhuthun 2nds 65 Llangefni 2nds 3

On a day hot enough to give many a migraine,  Ruthin 2nds comfortably beat a well drilled Llangefni side , 65 - 3.

With the wind behind them, Ruthin started a little nervously with some handling errors affecting their ability to create some momentum. To their credit,  Llangefni were tireless with their defence and took opportunities to make yards into the Ruthin half.

The deadlock was finally broken after Ruthin who were finally playing some good open play to suit the conditions, managed to put into space the spritely Ben Taylor to score a well finished try.

Ruthin were then able to  build on some fantastic phase play by the forwards and after being spread wide, Chris Lewis who was taking some time out from the forwards to admire his new boots, latched onto a beautiful flat pass from Jaime "Chips" Jones to score under the posts. The coaching team were particularly pleased with this try and suggested it would be a contender for try of the season.

Confidence was now high due to success Ruthin were having with their set piece and a number of players were able to cross the white wash to score including Tudur Parry and Jamie "Chips" Jones.

At half time, the management team made some outrageous substitutions to give some younger members of the team the oppurtunity to shine. One of those youngsters who chose to take this opportunity was Alyn Addis. Like a man possessed, Addis tackled a number of strong running Llangefni forwards and capped off his performance with a break from his on half only to be tackled short of the try line.

With the heads of the Llangefni team dropping, the Ruthin team could smell blood and wanted to inflict more tries on their opponents.  Huw Parry capitalised on a loose pass to sprint in from his own half and Luke Lewis was able to run in a brace of tries. Not to miss out, the forwards wanted a slice of the action and Dillon Edward's was able to burrow his way to his first try of the season.

Based on this performance,  Ruthin will be very confident in their next game away to Pwllheli.
