Ruthin played their first pre-season friendly at home on Saturday against Altrincham Kersall RFC. The game was played in 4 25 minute sessions with changes of players at each break. The sides were well matched and this led to an open and competitive game. Ruthin were first with points on the board with a try from hooker Danny Miller. Altrincham evened up the score and at the first break the score was 5-5. In the second session Cameron Lumsden scored a converted try for Ruthin only Altrincham to get one back and at the second break Ruthin were just ahead at 12-10. In the last two session Ruthin pulled away as Altrincham with a smaller squad tired. Tries came from Ben Green, Jason Humphreys, Rich Williams and Ynyr Roberts with Altrincham getting the final try with the score at 43-15. This was a good workout for the lads who play their next pre-season match against Wrexham on Wednesday 22nd August at home KO 7:30pm.
