Ruthin Youth welcomed last season's Division 2 champions Bangor to Cae Ddol on a very wet afternoon.
Ruthin were the dominant side in the first half but only managed to score one try from outside half Finn Nelson as the Blues encountered a well organised Bangor defence. Ruthin captain Owain Jones had a try disallowed whilst the visitors missed three penalties.
The Blues continued their onslaught in the second half and an early try, this time from centre Dafydd Cale, was disallowed. However, the sustained pressure on the green defence eventually told as right wing Declan Astbury dived over in the corner. Dyfan Humphreys converting to make it 12-0.
Ruthin used their bench to good effect and kept control of possession near the Bangor line resulting in a short range try for flanker Liam Davies on his Youth team debut. Humphreys converted to make it 19-0.
As the game went on, Ruthin grew stronger and finished in style with impressive hooker Dillon Edwards scoring an unconverted try. Immediately from the kick off, a clean take by second row Alan Addis was fed out to Liam Davies who burst through the Bangor defence from his own half to touch down under the posts for Dyfan Humphreys to convert and round off the scoring for a solid 31-0 win stemming from a good team performance in difficult conditions.
