Llandudno win Ruthin 7s Tournament Cup

Teams from Burton on Trent, Flint, Llandudno, Ruthin and Wrexham took part in an exciting day of sevens rugby at Ruthin on Saturday in the club’s third annual sevens tournament.  Cup winners were Llandudno who with their contingent of RGC players had an impressive day winning all their games without conceding a try.  Runners up in the cup were Burton Sounds who lost only to Llandudno in the group stage.  Ruthin were plate winners beating Wrexham in the plate play-off and narrowly missed playing in the final losing 26-24 to Burton Sounds in the cup/plate decider in the group stage.  Most outrageous try went to Rob Moore of Wrexham for the first try of the tournament within seconds of the start when he intercepted the ball in Burton’s 22 and then powered over the line.  This tournament is now firmly fixed in the rugby diary played each year on the Saturday of the end of May bank holiday weekend.
