Mae’n debyg bod nifer yn disgwyl Rhuthun i ennill yn erbyn tim ar waelod yr adran ar ol curo COBRA wythnos yn flaenorol. Ond bu egni a brwdfrydedd Bro Ffestiniog yn ormod i’r gleision a chafwyd sgor gwaethaf y tymor o 31-0. Unwaith eto ni chymerwyd y cyfleon gan Rhuthun ac ildiwyd rhes o geisiau yn ugain munud olaf y gem. Chwaraeodd Rhuthun i fyny’r cae am yr hanner awr cyntaf ond cafwyd dim sgor gyda’r ddwy ochr yn bygwth yn 22 eu gwerthwynebwyr. Methwyd cic cosb gan Rhuthun cyn i un o’u chwaraewyr dderbyn cerdyn melyn. Gyrrodd Bro dros y linell o dafliad i mewn yn 22 Rhuthun. Ymatebodd Rhuthun, ond dechreuodd y sgrym i simsanu braidd a gyda 14 o chwaraewyr yn unig nid oedd llwyddiant i’r gleision ac ar hanner amser y sgor oedd 5-0 i Fro Ffestiniog. Daeth Bro allan yn gryf iawn yn yr ail hanner ac ar ol peth bwysau ar linell Rhuthun, sgoriwyd cais wrth i’r tim cartref wneud y mwyaf o chwarae i lawr yr allt. Roedd Rhuthun yn dal i frwydro and roedd Bro yn edrych yn beryglus pan yn bylchu. Dechreuodd Ruthun herio Bro wrth bigo ac ymosod a chafwyd ychydig mwy o dan yn eu hymdrechion. Ond collodd Rhuthun y meddiant o sgrym eu hunain, ac o gic i lawr y cae a ras am y bel sgoriodd Bro drosgais. Ychydig funudau wedyn fe fylchodd chwaraewr Bro o’i 22 ei hun i 22 Rhuthun ac wedi sgrym neu ddau, gyrrwyd Rhuthun tros eu llinell am drosgais arall. Aeth pennau Rhuthun i lawr ac ar ol cyfnod arall o bwyso, sgorwyd pumed cais yn eu herbyn throswyd hwnnw cyn chwibaniad olaf y gem. Mae gan Rhuthun 39 pwynt yn gyfartal efo’r Wyddgrug a’r Bala yn y gynghrair erbyn hyn ac maent yn bumed oherwydd gwahaniaeth mewn nifer o bwyntiau a sgoriwyd. Mae’r buddugoliaeth haeddiannol hwn i Bro yn eu rhoi’n ol yn y frwydr efo Dolgellau a Dinbych i osgoi disgyn adran.

It might have been expected that after Ruthin’s return to winning ways in their faltering defeat of COBRA last week that there was a good chance of them coming away with the honours against bottom placed Bro Ffestiniog.  However it was a spirited Bro team that inflicted the worst defeat of the season on the Blues with a 31-0 win.  Again Ruthin didn’t take the chances they created and then succumbed to a try surge in the last twenty minutes of the game.  Ruthin were playing up the slope at Bro and for the first 30 minutes of the game there was no score but with both sides putting pressure on in the opposition’s 22.  The Blues narrowly missed a penalty goal kick but then had a player yellow carded and Bro drove over the line from a lineout on the visitor’s 22.  Ruthin responded but were beginning to get pushed around in the scrum and still with 14 men could not make headway and at half time the score was 5-0 to Bro.  Bro came out strongly in the second half and with their ascendancy in the forwards and playing downhill scored another try after a period of pressure on the Blues line.  The Blues tried to get back into the game but Bro were always dangerous on the break.  Ruthin adopted a pick and run tactic in the home sides half and began to show more aggression but after losing the ball from their own scrum, a kick downfield led to a chase which Bro won and scored a converted try.  A few minutes later a Bro player broke from their own  22 into Ruthin's 22 and after a couple of scrums which Bro won they drove over for another converted try.  Ruthin’s heads were well and truly down and Bro continued their pressure in the Blues 22 eventually putting them out of their misery with a fifth try also converted and the whistle blew for full time.  Ruthin now share 39 points in the table with Mold and Bala and are fifth on points scored difference.  This deserved win has put Bro right back in the race to avoid relegation with Denbigh and Dolgellau.
